People are paying for ass implants. Ass implants. Like money to have someone cut open your ass and put something inside it. This is the society we live in.

I get breast implants. But ass implants? Don't get it.

I'm not huge on fake titties either. But like, you don't sit on your tits all day.

My prediction is that Gawker will get away with the leaking of the sex tape and noone will be able to pin the leak to them. Hogan will be ruined and out of a job. business will continue as usual.

I have a pet conspiracy theory about Lil Yachty. The Jews made him famous to put all the marginally talented blacks like Jay-Z and whomever on notice that their fame and fortune has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with any talent they might have. Jewish producers can take the most retarded nigger they can find, a guy so dumb he can't even write his own name, hook him up to autotone, and make him a star. They don't need Jay-Z; Jay-Z needs them.

The Conservatives have a slogan which I think is despicable and defeatist: "It's better to be dead than red." And the Commies and Liberals have a slogan which is even worse, it's treason, they say: "It's better to be red than dead." We say this: "You don't have to be Red and you don't have to be Dead. Not dead. Not Red. Dead Reds"

Kotaku/Gawker bleeding jobs. I thought Gawker was dead.

Gawker got bought up by Univision as they sought to try to get access to that sweet sweet woke milenial dollar.
There some hilarious biting of feeding hands a while back as Univision expected writers to actually do their jobs and write articles instead of screeds and canned underperforming labels.

edit Found the article
https://specialprojectsdesk.com/univision-is-a-fucking-mess-1825836622

They are trying to sell the toxic shitheap the previous Head-Spic-In-Charge got them into.

https://variety.com/2018/digital/news/univision-exploring-sale-gawker-onion-gizmodo-1202869863/

Univision wants to hemorhage Gawker (Gizmodo now; apparently they wanted to distance themselves from Gawker) because of the union issues.

Since Rocket is a lazy nigger and provided no sources, I instead found this hilarious but also infuriating WaPo article.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-entertainment/2019/10/10/splinter-digital-news-successor-gawker-is-shutting-down/

Apologies for potato C&P
Quote from: TFA
news and commentary website that filled the void left by the demise of Gawker, is shutting down, editor in chief Aleksander Chan announced Thursday on Twitter.

@aleksnotalex
As of today, Splinter will cease publication. It has been my greatest honor to have been the editor of this site and I will love this staff to my dying breath. Thank you to all of our readers, fans, and haters—it’s been a thrill. Further details TK. Splinter forever.

Gawker, a longtime source of news and gossip that incubated a generation of young digital-minded journalists, shut down in 2016 thanks to a lawsuit funded by Silicon Valley investor Peter Thiel, the co-founder of PayPal.

Splinter, which came online in 2017, is owned by G/O Media, the company that ultimately came to own what remains of the Gawker empire: Gizmodo, Deadspin, Jalopnik, Lifehacker and others. The publications, once collectively called Gizmodo Media Group, were purchased by Great Hill Partners, a private equity firm, earlier this year.

Great Hill Partners appointed Jim Spanfeller as CEO of G/O Media. In the months since his appointment, Spanfeller and the journalists who work there have clashed over his vision for the publications. Megan Greenwell, the former editor-in-chief of Deadspin, quit in August. In an essay explaining her decision, Greenwell wrote that she believed Spanfeller thought "he could simply turn up the traffic (and thus turn a profit), as if adjusting a faucet, not by investing in quality journalism but by tricking people into clicking on more pages.” (After Greenwell quit, Paul Maidment, G/O Media’s editorial director, told The Daily Beast that the former editor “had a different vision” for Deadspin, and wished her well.)

Earlier in the summer, Deadspin had published a lengthy expose on their new owners.

G/O Media responded to a request for comment from The Washington Post with a copy of the email Maidment sent to Splinter staffers about the shuttering. Maidment wrote that G/O Media planned to redistribute former Splinter jobs across the company’s other publications. The memo said there would be “no reduction of G/O Media’s editorial workforce." G/O Media said they hoped former Splinter staffers would apply for new jobs at the company’s other sites.

However, Splinter staffers have suggested on Twitter that there have been layoffs.

It’s true. This has been one of the best rides of my life and I am eternally grateful for Aleks, and everyone at splinter for making that possible. https://twitter.com/aleksnotalex/status/1182306489823891457

Now for the shameless part: I’m a blogger with a mortgage and two kids, one of whom has disabilities. If you’re looking to hire someone fast and (I think?) funny, please let me know because, uh, I could really use a job. Thanks!

The GMG Union, which represents staff of what was once the Gizmodo Media Group, said that 7 of their members at Splinter lost their jobs. In a statement to The Washington Post, the Writers Guild of America, East said they were “working with our members to ensure they receive the severance guaranteed in their collective bargaining agreement."

According to a count by Business Insider, more than 7,000 people working in media — including at companies like Disney and Verizon — have lost their jobs in 2019.

"Gawker, a longtime source of news and gossip that incubated a generation of young digital-minded journalists, shut down in 2016 thanks to a lawsuit funded by Silicon Valley investor Peter Thiel, the co-founder of PayPal."
Dis fucking Nigga.

No fuckface. Gawker was shut down because it was run by unpleasant people who flagrantly aired a private sex tape from a moderately public figure for clicks because they believed they could get away with it. The fact they had gained the ire of a bay-area tech fag by also not respecting his privacy, and said tech faggot seized an opportunity to extract very painful revenge is irrelevant.

Looks like lots of people need to learn to code, and more should be learning right now.

Deadspin, a sports site where they decided instead they would vaguely sports related liberal screeds, is dead. Seems like being woke ain't paying the bills.

Univision sold it for (reportedly) less than $50mm to a private equity firm:

Quote
The price was not disclosed, though Peter Kafka hears it was less than $50 million.

And of course the glorified bloggers employed as journalists refused to behave like adults:

Quote
Deadspin Deputy Editor Barry Petchesky echoed Greenwell's comments in the staff's farewell post to her, saying Greenwell kept the writers "shielded from the predatory private-equity scam that now runs the place." Jon Eiseman, the company's head of audience and social media, wrote that the company had been "corrupted by private equity money and run by poorly dressed failsons." Greenwell herself also focused on Great Hill specifically, claiming the firm was looking for a quick cash-out rather than creating a growing business.

Private equity firms invest hoping for a big return and are entirely sanguine that most of their investments will go to zero relying upon a few massive wins to deliver a good return.  As such their staff of rebellious bloggers knows it's living on borrowed time and is screaming on its way out the door.

Quote
Gawker Media is dead, of course. But it’s not dead because it failed; it’s dead because it was murdered by a vindictive billionaire and there existed no legal infrastructure to protect it. When Gawker was murdered in a terrifying blow to freedom of the press, a shocking number of other journalists said the site deserved it: They should have had more decorum, should have been less rude, should have placated the right people instead of making fun of them. What those journalists didn’t say, and what they still don’t say, was that Gawker made journalism better through inspiring new publications and through pushing the legacy ones to be more interesting. They don’t say that Gawker unionizing made conditions better across the industry. And they don’t say that the company’s websites were consistently profitable and beloved by readers, that the business model—publish stories that people wanted to read, supported by advertising—worked exactly as it was intended to.

Gawker media killed itself by deciding that someone's privacy was not worth generating some clicks. It couldn't have happened to a better group of people, and I'm only sorry the entire lot didn't end up on the street.

"50 things you can use to fuck your pee-hole" is not hard-hitting journalism.

Quote
The question I hear the most about the owners of this company is “Why did they buy a bunch of publications they seem to hate?”

You could ask the same question to the people brought onto Star Wars or Marvel.

Said firm...

https://www.greathillpartners.com/about-us/

Their investment criteria is literally at the bottom of the page...

Funding Range: $25 – $500 million
Type of Transaction - Acquisition, growth equity, go-private, recapitalization, consolidation, minority position, PIPE
Ownership Requirements - 10% to 85%, usually over 30%
Typical Holding Period - 3 – 7 years
Board Representation - Required

Not sure how they could possibly be any more transparent. This type of stuff is typically buried into the details or goes unmentioned until negotiation time, yet here they are plastering it up on their website so they don't waste your time and you don't waste theirs.

For those who don't know how funding works, the bullet points above basically state "Don't get it confused. We'll give you more money than another firm, but we're pretty blatant that we want a board seat and some decision making power.

Lefty shit blog Deadspin is no more as of yesterday. All staff have been fired or resigned.
It seems the new owners are finding contractors to produce new content, but no more articles on a sports blog screeeing about teens in maga hats doing literally nothing while shitlibs get in their faces.

After costing the parent company a million dollar ad campaign with their sobbing, as well as ceasing to pretending to write about sports, the deputy editor was fired, the EIC resigned because she was told "stick to sports" (which management was clear: they could continue to be worthless shitlib faggots, but the articles had to be sports or immediately sports adjacent), refused to enforce that policy, and then resigned when the mandate was put into writing. Triggering a hilarious domino effect of increasingly short tenures).

Since G/O media has to deal with a union formed by the previous owners cucking under and letting it happen, this brilliant. These faggots are getting fired for cause or voluntarily resigning, meaning no unemployment benefits and no union severance pay. Its an incredibly satisfying to watch self own. It could only be more hilarious if they were given Learn to Code books being kicked out the door.

The GMO union wrote a sobbing post about them losing about 100 dues-paying members.
